1400 - 1600 Review with students the layout and purpose of a timeline. Be sure students understand how the flow of time is shown in this visual format. The dates shown in the answer key below are for your reference, and students do not need to list them on their timeline or the timeline guide. Point out to students that the column on the right shows the rulers of England, starting with Henry VIII. As a time reference, you might mention that Shakespeare was writing his famous plays in the 1590s and early 1600s, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne. Timeline event guide, page 12 To help study the timeline, students should complete the "fill in the blanks" event guide using the word bank at the bottom of the page. It's a good small group project, with students sharing what they already know, and then using a textbook, online encyclopedia, or other resources to help them pick the correct answers. 1.
